What are the HyperEstimators?

NOTE-- In 2000 we replaced MacNail with Goldenseal construction estimating software. There are still plenty of die-hard MacNail users, so we keep the manuals online for their use! Goldenseal is an integrated program that also includes accounting, scheduling and contract writing features. The HyperEstimator was another estimating software program we created, replaced by BidMagic in the early 90's and then also retired in 2000.

HyperEstimator Basics

The Hyper*Estimators make a very good 'front end' to the MacNail construction estimating software.

They are much better than MacNail at calculating project dimensions, especially for remodeling projects. They are also much more 'friendly' at setting up project specifications. You can click on pictures and buttons, instead of scrolling through a long list of items.

The Hyper*Estimators also provide 'quick and dirty' rough estimates. They take some shortcuts for the sake of speed and simplicity, so they won't be as accurate as MacNail--especially when you look at individual items. They are accurate enough for 'planning' estimates, though, which makes them a good tool for client presentations, or for use during the design phase.
