Hiding Overhead & Soft Costs

Problem

the user wants to 'hide' overhead and profit in Goldenseal Estimate breakdowns, while making printed forms from Goldenseal construction estimating software

How to not show markup in customer bids

Diagnosis

We suggest that people itemize overhead, profit, contingencies and other "soft costs" in the estimate itself. That way it's easier to job cost actual costs vs estimated that way. But, many people don't want to show that markup to customers, but would rather distribute it among the hard costs.

Solution

Starting with version 2.7 of Goldenseal construction estimating software, you can "hide" overhead and other soft costs in printed forms and reports.

If you really want to "hide" overhead in the estimate line items, you can do that via the Markup System in the Assemblies or Cost Items included in the estimate. But that makes it much more difficult to match up actual costs against the estimate, when job costing.
