Estimate Troubleshooting

NOTE-- Goldenseal construction estimating software replaced MacNail back in 2000. There are still quite a few MacNail users, so we keep the manuals online for their use! Goldenseal is an integrated program that also includes accounting, job costing and project management features. Our new software does not require Excel, and is much less likely to give you problems.

Lost Formula

Formulas are lost if you Unprotect a worksheet and type into cells that were formerly protected. There are important formulas in the Summation, Clearinghouse, Dimensions (italic items) and Specifications (bold rows). (To fix a formula see page 169.)

MacNail Menu Items Disappear

You may be in short menus. Choose Full Menu from the OPTIONS menu (2.2 Excel and greater only).
If the MacNail menu commands disappear, choose Repair Menus from the OPTIONS menu.

Macro Error at Cell ...

If you run into a 'bug', or if you halt a macro by typing Command-period, you will be presented with an Excel macro error box.
In most cases you should click Halt, and close all worksheets without saving changes.
If you get a macro error several times, and can't seem to find an error in the files that are being worked on, please let us know--it may be a logical or typographic 'bug' that we will want to correct. We want to make the MacNail construction estimating software as perfect as possible!
