Including Items in an Estimate

NOTE-- We retired MacNail estimating in 2000, and replaced it with Goldenseal construction estimating software. There are still die-hard MacNail users, so we keep the manuals online for their use! Goldenseal is an integrated program that also includes accounting, scheduling and contract writing features. In Goldenseal Estimates, there is a padlock column that lets you 'unlock' and item and type in any quantity.

Edit Menu Commands

The EDIT menu contains commands to change the contents of the worksheets used in the MacNail construction estimating software.

Include in Bid

Choose *Include in Bid to include the suggested number of units in the actual bid. This menu command will only work in the Specifications list.

If the suggested number of units is not a number, or if the top row of the selection is a heading, an error message will be given.

You can use this command on more than one row at a time. Drag the mouse through as many rows as you would like to include, and choose *Include in bid. Headings, rows that do not have a number in the suggested column, and items with a calculated 'units used', will be skipped automatically (see page 102).

HINT: To include an item in the bid without the Estimating Manager you can type an = (equal) sign into the units used column, click on the suggested units column, then type the ENTER key.
Command key shortcut: Option-Command-Y.
