New Customizing Files

NOTE-- We retired the MacNail estimating program in 2000, and replaced it with Goldenseal construction estimating software. There are still a significant number of die-hard MacNail users, so we keep the manuals online for them! Goldenseal is an integrated program that also includes accounting, scheduling and contract writing features. All company data is stored in a single Goldenseal file, so you won't often need to create new files.

New Customizing File

Choose New Customizing File to create new Customizing files for The MacNail construction management software. This command gives you a choice of several types of new files.

A Category Sheet is an outline of construction cost categories (and optional subcategories) that is used to create new estimators (see pages 165-169).

An Estimator Blank is also used to create new estimators (see pages 170-172).

A Price Master is a place to store unit prices and other information used by MacNail (see pages 174-177).

NOTE: MacNail Customizing already includes the MacNail Price Master, which contains a 'stock' database of construction prices. To use more than one Price Master, choose Customizing Options from the Options menu, and turn off Just one Price Master.

A set of Material Price Files is used to calculate material unit prices, based on the most recent prices from lumberyards and other suppliers (see page 98).

NOTE: MacNail Customizing comes with one set of price files-- the MacNail Price Sheet, MacNail Comparisons and MacNail Assemblies files. To use more than one set of Material Price files, choose Customizing Options from the Options menu, and turn off Just one set of Material Price Files.
