Using Goldenseal on a Large Screen

I want the data entry screens to be bigger!

We try to fit all of the data entry layouts in the Goldenseal accounting software so they aren't much bigger than an 800 x 640 screen. Otherwise our less endowed users can't see everything, if they open Goldenseal while using an older monitor, a very compact laptop, or a screen set to lower resolution for someone with weak eyes.

If you have a large screen, there are several ways to take advantage of the extra space.

Show multiple windows

Goldenseal "remembers" the position of each window, so you can see your customers, estimates, expenses, and checkbook all at the same time. Just drag each window so it's on a different part of the screen. That will help you to make better use of your screen space.

Magnify Goldenseal windows

To enlarge the text and most graphics in Goldenseal windows, follow these steps:

  1. Choose Preferences from the Options menu, and choose Interface from the submenu.
  2. Click on the Magnification popup field in the middle of the window, and change it to 10 point, 12 point, or some other size.
  3. Click OK.
  4. Goldenseal windows will open with larger text.

HINT-- Repeat the steps above, and return to Standard magnification if you want smaller text.

Permanently resize Layouts

If you always use a large monitor, and want to permanently expand the size of your Goldenseal layouts, follow these steps:

  1. Choose Custom Layouts from the Options menu, and choose Accounts, Lists or Transactions from the submenu.
  2. Use the popup fields at upper left to locate the type of record you'd like to change.
  3. Click on the lower right corner of the layout, and drag so it is bigger. Or you can choose Size & Margins from the Options menu, and type in a bigger size.
  4. To fill up the extra space, click on fields and drag them. You can also change any text to a larger font size.
  5. When you like the new layout, choose Save from the File menu.

HINT-- if you want to see more data on your larger layouts, you can add optional fields, or create new custom fields.
