Switching to XL4 Menus

Problem

Excel 5 XL5-- doesn't switch to XL4 menus automatically. Can't find MacNail menu commands. Gets extra menu commands when switching between managers in MacNail construction management software.

Diagnosis

MacNail managers dated before Aug 94 do not switch to XL4 automatically. It will add commands to the bottom of the XL5 menus, and may not remove them when the manager is closed (due to a deficiency in XL5).

Est, Cust, SW Managers dated Aug 94 or later, or Sched & Acct Managers Oct 94 or later, will automatically switch to XL4 menus (we also do this so the command locations will continue to match the manuals).

Solution

For Sched, Accounting and Cost Control Managers dated Aug 94 or Sept 94, there is a bug that prevents XL4 menus from appearing (Macintosh accounting software vsn only).
To fix it, go to the following cell, and change the formula from =FORMULA("=IF(has.old.menu,,optins.general(,,,,,TRUE,,,,,,,))",xxx) to
=FORMULA("=IF(has.old.menu,,options.general(,,,,,TRUE,,,,,,,))",xxx)
[add the letter o to optins].
ACCT MGR: G147 COST CONTROL MGR: F111
SCHED MGR: F69

Comments

Starting with XL8, we are forced to use the new menu setup in MacNail construction software. You'll need to use the menu cheat sheet to translate menu locations from the manual to the new Excel menus.
