Importing Schedules

NOTE-- We retired the MacNail construction software package in 2000, and replaced it with Goldenseal construction software. Goldenseal is a complete computer software package for builders and remodelers, providing accounting, estimating, and project scheduling features. It's possible to export the schedule calculated from any Goldenseal Estimate, into other scheduling programs.

Importing into MacProject Scheduling Software

To import the schedule into MacProject II:

1. Quit from Excel (unless you are using MultiFinder).
2. Find the MacNail Construction Blank icon, and double-click on it. This will launch MacProject II.
NOTE: MacNail Construction Blank is in the Schedule Links folder on the original MacNail Scheduling disk. You may have put it elsewhere on your hard disk, when first installing the MacNail construction scheduling software.
3. Use Save As from the File menu to save the file under a new name. You may want to call it the Smith Project, if the original MacNail schedule was the Smith Schedule.
WARNING: You must save the MacProject file under a new name. Do not save it as MacNail Construction Blank, since that is the "blank" template that will be used for future imports. If you do accidentally save changes to MacNail Construction Blank, go back to the original disk or to your backup, and re-copy the original version onto your hard disk.
4. Bring the Project Table to the front by choosing Project Table from the Chart menu.
5. Choose Import from the File menu.
6. Move through folders until you are inside the Scheduling Reports folder (which is inside the Schedules folder).
7. Click on the file you just created with the MacNail construction scheduling software (for example, Smith MacProject Export), then click OK.
8. The MacProject project management software will take several minutes to process the schedule information.
9. When the import is completed, choose Save from the File menu to preserve the changes made during the import.
