Estimating Interior Dimensions |
NOTE--We retired MacNail in 2000, and replaced it with Goldenseal project estimating software. There are still quite a few die-hard MacNail users, so we keep the manuals online for them! Goldenseal is a complete small-business software package that also includes accounting, job costing and project management features. Interior dimensions are entered into Goldenseal estimates via the Interior Dimensions screen. Corners Type the total number of all corners in exterior walls that are being worked on as part of the construction project. Include both concave and convex corners. Type in the total number of all corners in interior walls that are being worked on. The calculated value is based on four corners for each room or closet. You can take that number, and add 2 to it for each ell-shaped room, and 4 (or more) for any very complex rooms. * New buildings will always have an even number of exterior corners. Baseboard Length This number should rarely need to be changed from value calculated by the MacNail construction estimating software. Number of Stairs Type in the number of stairs that will be worked on as part of the construction project, if the calculated value is not correct. Dumpsters The calculated number of 30 cubic yard dumpsters that will be needed is displayed. If you use your own trucks or a different size of dumpster for trash removal, convert the total volume of trash removed to multiples of 30 cubic yards. Insulation Areas This includes the total area of walls, floors and ceilings
that are exposed to the outdoors. Do not
include interior walls that will be insulated for sound-proofing. That is
handled in
wall framing
specifications,
instead. |
