Estimating Direct Quantities

NOTE-- In 2000 we retired MacNail and BidMagic (our previous estimating programs), and introduced Goldenseal construction estimating software. There are still die-hard MacNail users out there, so we keep the manuals online for them! Goldenseal is an integrated program that also includes accounting, job costing and project management features. It has a 'padlock' column in estimates, that you'll unlock when you want to type in a quantity.

Entering a number directly

To include an item that differs in quantity from the suggested units, you will type a number into the 'units used' column (column D) of the MacNail construction estimating software.

For example, we will include 280 square feet of carpet removal in the existing living room to make way for the new carpet.
 
To do so:
1. Click on the 'units used' cell for that item.
2. Type in 280.
3. Type ENTER
