Estimating Attic Construction

NOTE-- We replaced MacNail with Goldenseal construction estimating software back in 2000. There are still die-hard MacNail users, so we keep the manuals online for their use! Goldenseal is an integrated program that also includes accounting, job costing and project management features. It includes Estimate records that use dimensions and unit costs that are very similar to MacNail estimates.

Attics

Unfinished attics will require you to type in numbers for attic floor framing and subfloor, plus either an access hatch or stairs.

Partly finished attics will also need the addition of whatever extra items will be included: sheetrock, trim, painting, wall insulation, etc.

Consider fully finished attics to be the second or third floor if there is no other second or third floor. If there is an unfinished second floor but no finished basement, you can fool the MacNail construction estimating software by entering attic partitions into basement partitions and attic floor area into basement floor area.
