Brick Chimney Installation Cost

Construction ITEM DESCRIPTION

Construction estimating unit cost for a masonry chimney built from bricks and an 8" clay liner.

This price includes finishing the top of the chimney and cutting out for the flue entry. It does not include installation of an ash cleanout panel.

Unit Size

One lineal foot of chimney.

Labor Costs

We figure about 3 1/2 lineal feet per hour of work by a mason with a half-time helper.

Material Costs

28 bricks and half of a 2 foot clay tile chimney liner per foot, plus some mortar materials.

Suggested Quantity

Goldenseal suggests the calculated height from ground level to the highest roof point. You'll probably need to adjust the height based on the actual geometry of the project.

Source of Construction Pricing

Based on crew timing from a few projects where we did a small amount of chimney rebuilding. You can probably reduce this cost if you are subcontracting a lot of masonry or if you bring in a chimney specialist.
