Dimension Multipliers

Labor & Material Dimension multipliers are not working!

Goldenseal estimating software gives you the option to adjust prices, based on dimension measurements. For example, you can adjust pricing for different foundation thickness, stud or joist spacing, plywood thickness, or number of paint coats.

HINT-- We have already set up the stock Assemblies to calculate correctly. If you want to add a new Assembly, duplicate an existing one that is similar, and you'll start out with the correct multipliers.

Turning on the Option

To use dimension multipliers, follow these steps:

  1. Choose Preferences from the Options menu, and choose Income from the submenu.
  2. Turn on the Use Dimension Multipliers checkbox.
  3. Click OK.

Entering Adjusting Dimensions

To use a multiplier in an Assembly, follow these steps:

  1. Choose Assemblies from the Costs menu.
  2. Locate the Assembly you want to change.
  3. Click on the Sales Setup button.
  4. Enter a dimension into the Labor Multiplier calculated field. If you want to use a calculated dimension, turn on the Calculated LM checkbox first.
  5. Enter a dimension into the Material Multiplier calculated field. If you want to use a calculated dimension, turn on the Calculated MM checkbox first.
  6. Click OK.

HINT-- If you are creating a new Assembly, it helps to start by duplicating a similar item. That probably already has the correct multipliers for this type of work.

Adjusting Assembly Components

To choose which Assembly components are multiplied by the multipliers, follow these steps:

  1. Choose Assemblies from the Costs menu.
  2. Locate the Assembly you want to change.
  3. To multiply a component by the Labor multiplier, put a checkmark in the LM column of the subassembly.
  4. To multiply a component by the Material multiplier, put a checkmark in the MM column of the subassembly.
  5. Hit the Enter key on your keyboard to save changes.

Updating in Estimates

If you change the calculation for a multiplier, it will not change prices in any existing estimates. To update the dimension values in an existing Estimate, follow these steps:

  1. Choose Estimates from the Income menu.
  2. Locate the Estimate you want to change.
  3. Click the Update Quantities button. When asked whether to change quantities, click OK.

NOTE-- When a line item uses a multiplier, it will still show the standard unit cost in the Unit Cost column. However when it calculates the Item Total in an Estimate, it will use the multiplier.
