What
is the best way to create a new construction
Assembly?
By far the best way to make a new Assembly in Goldenseal
estimating software is to start with an existing one!
Then you don't have to think so hard.
Duplicating Assemblies To
make a new Assembly from an existing one, do
the following:
- Start with one of the Starter Files that already includes unit costs.
- Choose Assemblies from the Costs menu.
- Locate an Assembly that is close to
what you want. HINT--
to see a list of all Assemblies, choose Estimates
from the Reports menu, and choose Assemblies from
the submenu.
- Choose Duplicate Record from the Edit menu.
- Change whatever is different.
- Click the Contract Setup and Sales Setup buttons,
and change any details that are different
there.
- Hit the Enter key to save the new
Assembly.
Creating New Materials If the new Assembly uses a different material that
is not already included as a Cost
Item, do the following:
- Double-click on the Unit Cost column for one of the components in
the Assembly. That will open the Cost Items window
for that item.
- Choose Duplicate Record from the Edit menu.
- Change whatever is different about the new material.
- Click the Contract Setup and Inventory
Setup buttons, and change any details that are
different there.
- Hit the Enter key to save the new material.
- Go back to the original Assembly.
- Enter the new material as a component
in the new construction Assembly.
