Lost an Estimate

Problem

Lost some Estimates when importing into Goldenseal construction estimating software version 2.0 and earlier.

Diagnosis

They had some estimates, that disappeared when they did an export and import.
Check the original file-- if the estimate has Project in the account type, that's the problem.

Solution

Do the following in the original file:

  1. Choose Estimates from the Income menu, and use the browser control to look at each Estimate record.
  2. If the estimate is awarded, open the project, and erase the estimate. Hit enter key.
  3. Change the estimate to a Customer. Hit the Enter key to save the record.
  4. If previously awarded, go back to the project and re-enter it.
  5. Choose Export from FIle menu, choose One Transaction Class from submenu.
  6. Choose Estimates. Export.
  7. Import into the new file. It should come in OK this time.

Comments

In early versions of Goldenseal estimating software we allowed an estimate to be made directly to a project. Now that link happens only by awarding the estimate to a project.
