Category Order in Estimate Breakdowns

Problem

User wants the categories to be listed in chronological order, but they are alphabetical.

Or, they want them to be listed alphabetically but they are in some other order.

Solution

Goldenseal estimating software uses the Category System to determine the order in which categories are displayed. To check the current category system, follow these steps:

1. Choose Estimates from the Income menu, and use the browser at upper left to locate the estimate.
2. Click the More Info button.
3. Check the Category System clairvoyant field, in the Job Cost Info section.

HINT-- If no Category System is selected, Goldenseal lists category breakdowns in alphabetical order.

To view the details of a category system, choose Category Setup from the Costs menu, then choose Category Systems from the submenu. Double-click on any system to see how it is organized.

NOTE-- Users can change the order of categories or subcategories.

Problems on Printed Forms

There is also a Preferences item in the Goldenseal construction estimating software program that alphabetizes the category list in printed forms, no matter what order is in the Category System. To change that, choose Preferences from the Option menu, choose Interface from the submenu, and change the Sort Category Names checkbox in the Estimating Display section.
