Transfer Manager

NOTE-- We retired the BidMagic construction estimating software in 2001. It has been replaced by Goldenseal construction estimating software.

We still include this BidMagic estimating software manual as a convenience for users of our older program. Many features are similar, in Goldenseal estimating.

The Transfer Manager

All of the links between BidMagic and MacNail are handled by a Microsoft Excel document called the Transfer Manager. When you open the Transfer Manager, it installs a Bid menu that 'links' MacNail to BidMagic, just as BidMagic uses its Data menu to link to MacNail.

Getting to and From the Transfer Manager

Getting to and from the Transfer Manager is done differently, depending on the version of the Macintosh System that you are using, and on the amount of RAM you have in your machine.

Which System are you Using?

If you already know which version of the Macintosh System you are using, proceed to the next section. If not, click on the Apple menu.

System 7 System 6--MultiFinder System 6 --Finder

If you see pictures next to each item, you are using System 7 (see example, previous page).

HINT: System 7 also shows a 'talk balloon' with a question mark in it, on the right side of the menu bar.
If the menu

has a divider bar, a list of programs and 'About MultiFinder' at the bottom, you are using System 6 with MultiFinder (see example, previous page).

HINT: If you have more items in the Apple menu than will fit on the screen, you may need to move the mouse to the 'down arrow' to see the bottom of the menu.

If there are no menu pictures and no divider bar, you are using System 6 with the Finder.
