Linking BidMagic Estimating to MacNail

NOTE-- We retired the BidMagic construction estimating software in 2001. It has been replaced by Goldenseal construction estimating software.

We still include this BidMagic estimating software manual as a convenience for users of our older program. Many features are similar, in Goldenseal estimating.

Using system 7

If you are using Macintosh System 7 and have at least 4 megabytes of RAM, you can run both BidMagic and MacNail at the same time.

NOTE: You may need more than 4 megabytes to run both programs together, depending on your setup.

To open the MacNail Transfer Manager from BidMagic, follow these steps:
1. Click on the icon at the far right side of the menu bar.
2. Choose Finder from the pull-down menu.
NOTE: If the Transfer Manager is already open, choose Excel instead, and skip the rest of these instructions.
3. Locate the Transfer Manager on your hard drive--it should be in the BidMagic folder inside your MacNail folder. Do not use the older Transfer Manager in your Estimates folder--it will not work with BidMagic.
4. Double-click on the Transfer Manager.
5. Microsoft Excel will be opened, and a Bid menu will be added to the far right side of the Excel menus.

To open BidMagic while you are in MacNail, follow these steps:
1. Click on the icon at the far right side of the menu bar.
2. Choose Finder from the pull-down menu.
3. Locate BidMagic or any BidMagic estimate on your hard drive.
4. Double-click on the icon, and it will be opened.

To switch between BidMagic and MacNail when both are open:
1. Click on the Application menu at the far right corner of the menu bar.
2. Choose BidMagic or Microsoft Excel from the menu.
