Installing BidMagic Takeoff

NOTE-- We retired the BidMagic Material Takeoff Software in 2001. It has been replaced by Goldenseal Material Takeoff Software.

We still include this BidMagic estimating software manual as a convenience for users of our older program. Many features are similar, in Goldenseal estimating.

IMPORTANT: Before installing the Takeoff module, you must have version 1.5 or greater of the BidMagic Material Takeoff Software installed on your hard drive. If you own an earlier version of BidMagic, first install the upgrade to 1.5, and then install the Material Manager.

The Material Manager will not work with versions of BidMagic prior to 1.5.

To load the BidMagic Takeoff Module onto your hard drive, follow these steps:
1. Make sure you are in the Macintosh Finder, with your hard drive window open.
2. Insert the BidMagic Takeoff Module disk into the floppy drive. If the floppy disk window is not already open, double-click on the floppy disk icon to open it. You will see an icon for the BidMagic Material Manager.
3. Find the BidMagic Folder on your hard drive. (If you own MacNail, the BidMagic folder should be inside the MacNail folder).
4. You may need to move or resize the windows on your screen so you can see both the BidMagic folder and the BidMagic Material Manager.
5. Click on the BidMagic Material Manager and drag it into the BidMagic Folder.
6. Drag the floppy disk icon into the Trash Can to eject the floppy disk.
7. Double-click on the BidMagic folder to open it. Inside, you should see the BidMagic Material Manager along with the other BidMagic files and folders.
8. The BidMagic Material Manager is now installed and ready to use!
