NOTE-- We retired the BidMagic Material Takeoff
Software in 2001. It has been replaced by Goldenseal Material
Takeoff Software.
We still include this BidMagic estimating software manual
as a convenience for users of our older program. Many features are
similar, in Goldenseal estimating.

Moving Material Prices from MacNail to BidMagic
You can
also update material prices using MacNail Customizing, and then bring them into the BidMagic estimating
software. It's a two
step process-- first you'll export the prices out of MacNail, then you'll import them into the BidMagic
Material Takeoff Software.
Exporting material Prices out of MacNail
1. Open the Transfer Manager.
2. Choose Export Material Prices from the Bid Menu.
3. If you are using more than one Price Sheet, you'll be asked to choose from which one to export.
If you are using only the MacNail Price Sheet, that file will be used automatically.
4. Click All items to export all of the material prices. Click Items Changed Since to export just recently-changed
items, and type in the first date to use.
5. You'll be asked for a file name in which to save the export. Change the suggested file name if you
don't like it, then click OK.
6. The material prices will be exported automatically.
importing material prices into BidMagic
After you have exported material prices out of MacNail, you can import
them into BidMagic.
To do so, follow these steps:
1. If you are already in BidMagic, choose Material Prices from the Edit menu. If not, double-click
on the BidMagic Material Manager to open it.
2. Choose Import Prices from the Material Menu.
3. You will be asked for a file from which to import material prices. Navigate to the BidMagic Files
folder, click on the name of the price file created from MacNail, then click OK.
4. To import prices only for items already in the Material Manager price book, select Existing Items
Only. To import prices for new items only, select New Items Only. To import prices for all items,
new and existing,
select All Items. To completely replace all of the prices in BidMagic, choose Replace Entire Price
Book.
WARNING: Be very careful when using the Replace Price Book option! It will erase all your existing
prices!
5. Once you have selected the appropriate import type, click OK.
6. BidMagic will import the material prices. It may take a few minutes, depending on the number of
items and the speed of your computer.
7. After the import is finished, go to each bid or bidding template that will use the new prices,
and choose Update Materials from the Data menu.
