NOTE-- We retired the BidMagic Material Takeoff
Software in 2001. It has been replaced by Goldenseal Material
Takeoff Software.
We still include this BidMagic estimating software manual
as a convenience for users of our older program. Many features are
similar, in Goldenseal estimating.
Exporting a Material Takeoff
If you'd like to change the appearance of a material takeoff, or use it in some other
program, you can also export it as a text file. To do so, follow these steps:
1. Open the bid.
2. Choose Export Material Takeoff from the Data menu.
3. You will be asked to type in a name for the export file. Click Save to accept the name BidMagic suggests
for the file, or enter a new name and then click Save.
4. Select the specifications categories you would like to include. To export a takeoff for the entire bid,
click the Select All button. To export just some categories, click on the names of the categories you would
like to use, then click the OK button.
HINT: To select several categories, hold down the Command key as you
click on each category.
5. BidMagic will calculate the takeoff materials and quantities, and create a text file that includes them.
6. Switch to a word processor, spreadsheet or database program, and open or import the text file. You'll
then be able to use it in that program.
