MacNail Estimating-- System Requirements

NOTE-- In 2000 we retired MacNail and BidMagic (our previous estimating programs), and introduced Goldenseal construction estimating software to replace them. There are still quite a few die-hard MacNail users, so we keep the manuals online for them! Goldenseal also includes accounting, job costing and project management features. It runs on any Macintosh or Windows computer (except for really old antiques).

Macintosh System Requirements

* RAM: the MacNail construction estimating software requires at least one megabyte of internal memory (also known as RAM ). You can use a Mac Plus, a Mac SE, any Mac II, or an SE/30. You can also use any older Mac (128, 512, or 512E) that has been upgraded to a Mac Plus.
NOTE: For best results, you should also have the latest version of System and Finder installed on your hard disk. You can usually get a free copy of the latest System software from your local dealer or User's Group.
* Hard Drive: MacNail requires a hard disk of any size. We recommend a 20 megabyte hard disk as a minimum. Choose 40 megabytes or more if you are a small business expecting to expand, or a larger business using the Macintosh exclusively.
* Excel: the MacNail construction estimating software also requires that you have a copy of Excel loaded onto your hard disk. MacNail 3.0 will only run successfully under Excel version 1.5 or greater.

NOTE: If you are using Excel version 2.2 or greater, we strongly recommend that you have a minimum of two megabytes of RAM. See page 167.

Windows System Requirements

* RAM: the MacNail construction estimating software requires at least two megabytes of internal memory (also known as RAM ).
NOTE: For best results, you should also have the latest version of DOS and WINDOWS installed on your hard disk.
