Estimating with Excel 2.2

NOTE-- In 2000 we completely replaced MacNail with the newer Goldenseal construction estimating software. There are still die-hard MacNail users, so we keep the manuals online for their use! Goldenseal is an integrated program that also includes accounting, job costing and contract writing features. It's a standalone program that does not require the Excel spreadsheet, to run.

Memory use

Excel version 2.2 is able to address any amount of memory. However, the program itself takes up much more memory, so it may run very poorly unless you have two or more megabytes of RAM. We do not recommend runningExcel 2.2 unless you have the extra memory. See page 177 to set the memory partition.

NOTE: Excel 2.2 will allow you to have more than one estimate open at one time, an improvement over 1.5!

Menus

Excel 2.2 uses both short menu and full menus. The MacNail menu commands are added only to the full menus and are not available on the short menus.

To change from short to full menus, select Full Menus from the OPTIONS menu.
