Payroll Options |
For the method of determining payday, choose either 'Constant weekday' or 'Constant offset from end of period'. You can then use the Payday Options command to set the actual day of the week used for payday, or the number of days between the close of the pay period and payday (see page 3). NOTE-- In 2000, we replaced MacNail with Goldenseal construction payroll software. Goldenseal is an integrated program that includes general accounting, job costing, payroll and project billing, plus estimating and other features. The payroll system in Goldenseal is much easier to understand! We still include these instructions on our website, for die-hard users of our original MacNail Accounting software. The name of the Payroll Blank you are currently using is displayed in the dialog. If you'd like to install your state's Payroll Blank, or switch from one state to another, click the Change button. For more about state Payroll Blanks, see page 7. Turn on the Use Employee Index button if you are using the Employee Index to store payroll information for your employees. Turn it off if you are not using the Employee Index (see page 9). To change to a different Employee Index, click the Change button. Turn on the Print labor items in Ledger as ordinary checks button if you are not using MacNail accounting software for payroll, but want to print paychecks from a Checkbook Ledger. Paychecks printed from a Ledger will not show employee withholding-- they will simply be printed as a regular accounts payable check with no payroll information included. If you are using the payroll portion of the MacNail Accounting software, turn this button off. Turn on Include Employees with zero hours in Payroll Report if you'd like to have each employee shown in a Payroll Report, even if they didn't work that week. Doing so will provide you with a complete work record in each employee's Payroll File-- they'll be logged in with zero hours during weeks they didn't work, so you'll know exactly what happened. If you'd prefer not to see non-working employees listed in Payroll Reports, turn this option off (it makes the 'Payroll Reports' and 'Update Payroll Files' commands go faster). |
