Flagging Accounting Records

Every account and transaction record in Goldenseal small business software includes a Flag Box, at the lower left corner of the window. The Flag Box is the button on the far left, next to the Printer Flag.

Flag Box

Use the Flag box to mark records for later action.

The Flag box works like any checkbox.  Click in the Flag box to turn it on. Click again to turn it off.

Later on you can use the Find command to locate just the flagged items. You can also base Calculations and Reports on just the flagged items.

HINT-- The Flag button lets you group combinations of records that may not be possible to find with a simple find criteria.

Viewing Flagged Items

To view the items that are currently flagged, follow these steps:

  1. Choose Find From the Edit menu.
  2. Click in the Flag Box (in the lower left corner) so there is a check mark there.
  3. Click the Find button.
  4. You'll see all records that are currently flagged.

HINT-- The Flag Box is a great way to mark a few records for some sort of action (such as a phone call). Once you complete the action for each record, unflag it.

Clearing All Flagged Items

Before you flag a group of records, you should un-flag any items you may have flagged, previously.

To do so, follow these steps:

  1. Choose Find From the Edit menu.
  2. Click in the Flag Box (in the lower left corner) so there is a check mark there.
  3. Click the Find button.
  4. You'll see all records that are currently flagged.
  5. Click on the Flag Box for the current record, to turn it off.
  6. Choose Replace All from the Edit menu.
  7. Choose Flagged in the list of Fields, then click OK.
  8. Goldenseal will remove the checkmark from all flagged records.

HINT-- The Flag Box is present in all accounts and transactions, in all versions of Goldenseal small business software. It can be very handy!
