Cost Classes

Use Cost Classes to organize cost categories into larger groupings.

HINT-- Cost Classes are an optional feature of the Goldenseal accounting software. If you can't think of a use for them, you can just ignore them!

Entering Cost Classes

To enter a Cost Class, follow these steps:

  1. Choose Category Setup from the Costs menu, then choose Cost Classes from the submenu.
  2. Click the New button, or click on an existing item and click the Edit button.
  3. Enter details for the cost class.

Data Fields

Enter the following information for each Cost Class:
Name-- Type in a brief name for this cost class. This is the text that will appear in clairvoyant fields.
Description-- Type in any comments you'd like to make about this item.

Using Cost Classes

Assign cost classes to each cost category in a Category System.

When you make job cost reports, you have the option to see breakdowns by cost class, or by cost class and category.
