Use Barter Transfers to log goods or services that you swap.

Entering Barter Transfers

To enter a Barter Transfer, follow these steps:

Choose Special Transfers from the Bank menu, then choose Barter Transfers from the submenu.
Click the New button, or choose New Record from the Edit menu.
Fill in details about the transfer.

Data Fields

Enter the following information for each Barter Transfer:

Barter Type-- Choose the type of barter that is being made (see the next section).
Made With-- Choose the type of account that is making the exchange.
Account-- Choose the account that is making the exchange.
Value-- Choose the value of the items being exchanged.
Comments-- Add any comments you have about this transaction.

Date-- Enter the date of the transfer.
Record Number-- A record number is entered automatically.
Item Given-- Enter a brief description of the item you are giving.
Item Received-- Enter a brief description of the item you are receiving.

Barter Types

Three types of barter exchanges are available:

Even Swap-- For exchanges of items that have equal value. The barter transaction is the complete record of the exchange.
Purchase Payment-- For exchanges where you give an item that is used as partial or complete payment for a purchase.
Sale Payment-- For exchanges where you receive an item that is used as partial or complete payment for a sale or bill.

Using Barter Transfers

Right now Barter Transfers are just a passive record for any barter transactions you make.
