Site Clearing-- Woodland

Construction ITEM DESCRIPTION

Construction unit cost for site clearing of forested areas.

Unit Size

Square foot.

Labor Costs

We figure about 13 square feet per unskilled hour for an "average" heavily wooded site, plus 1 skilled hour per 250 square feet for marking and supervision.

The work might include removal of a few trees in a mature woodland, or removal of most trees in a dense "second growth" forest. At this labor rate you can probably cut the felled trees to fireplace lengths and stack the wood nearby.

The labor allowance covers stacking of tops and underbrush, but not removal from the site.

Material Costs

None included. We probably ought to throw in some gasoline or chainsaw costs.

Suggested Quantity

Lot area.

Source of Construction Pricing

A rough estimate based on job cost data for a few projects done by Turtle Creek Construction.

There are also unit costs for removal of individual trees-- that might be more applicable on a small site.

For large sites or with more equipment you can reduce the labor cost significantly.
