Roof Ridge Framing Cost

Construction Item Description

Construction unit cost for ridges on a gable or hip roof. This is an additional unit cost for the ridge framing-- also include basic truss or rafter framing costs for the entire roof area, to handle the basic roof framing cost.

Unit Size

One lineal foot of ridge.

Labor Costs

We figure that one skilled carpenter can frame about 25 lineal feet of ridge per hour, with a little help from an unskilled laborer.

Material Costs

The cost includes one foot of 2x10 lumber per lineal foot of ridge, plus some fasteners.

NOTE-- If you use plywood gussets or a different type or ridge board on your roof framing, you'll probably want to change the material item in this assembly.

Suggested Quantity

Based on the ridge measurement from the Roof Dimension screen.

Source of Construction Pricing

The labor cost is based on a "guesstimate" of the difference between gable roof framing and simple shed roof framing cost, using job cost data from several projects done by Turtle Creek Construction. The material cost is pretty simple.

Places Included
