Foundation Excavation, Awkward

<

Construction ITEM DESCRIPTION

Construction unit cost for a foundation hole dug out by a excavator in tight or awkward conditions-- for example, when digging foundations for an addition abutting an existing building. This cost can apply to a full basement, or to trenching for footings.

Unit Size

One cubic yard of soil removed.

Labor and Equipment Costs

We figure 11 cubic yards of soil remove per hour of excavator time (with operator) under cramped or awkward conditions, plus an hour of unskilled labor per 20 cubic yards of soil.

Material Costs

None included

Suggested Quantity

Goldenseal calculates foundation hole volume, based on the area and depth. You can adjust the quantity if a different amount of excavation is required (for example, on sloping ground).

Source of Construction Pricing

This is a "rule of thumb" price based on observed equipment times from a few projects.

The price can vary quite a bit depending on project size, soil type, ease of access, season and other project details. You can replace this estimate with a firm subcontractor quote when you receive one.

Places Included

Architect Starter File, Construction Starter File, Developer Starter File.
