Construction estimating unit cost for treated 2x8 floor joists in a simple exterior deck.

NOTE-- This cost only includes the basic structural framing under the deck. To calculate the total cost of a deck, you'll also need to add deck flooring, railings, posts, and possibly other structural framing work. You may also need to add costs for connecting the deck to an existing structure, including flashing and other details.

We figure that a carpenter can install 2x8 deck joisting on about 33 square feet of deck floor area per hour.

The cost includes 0.85 lineal feet of treated 2x8 per square foot of deck area. That covers joist spacing at 16" centers, plus some extra for internal beams and beams at the end of the deck.
