Construction ITEM DESCRIPTION

Concrete construction unit cost for erection of site-built concrete formwork built from lumber and plywood. This is a general unit cost that covers a variety of typical projects.

Unit Size

One square foot.

Labor Costs

We figure 55 square feet of formwork per carpenter hour, plus some laborer time (one hour per 125 square feet of formwork).

Material Costs

For every 100 square feet of formwork we figure 66 feet of 2x4, 33 feet of 2x6, and 3 sheets of form plywood.

All the materials use a negative waste factor to account for later reuse.

Hard Construction Costs, Typical

$1.41 per square foot of formwork for concrete placement

Suggested Quantity

We suggest the foundation wall area. If you are using the formwork for other concrete work, adjust the quantity. Also adjust the quantity if some of the formwork uses prefab metal forms.

Source of Construction Pricing

This pricing is the average for job costing data from several projects. Note that we were primarily remodelers, so a subcontractor specializing in concrete formwork can probably be much more productive than the rates we have here.
