hand mix footing, 6"x16"

Construction Category SubCategory
Concrete Concrete Footings

Construction ITEM DESCRIPTION

Concrete construction unit cost for installation of 6" x 18" concrete footings (called footers in some regions) for a foundation or retaining wall, using bagged concrete mix that is mixed with water on site.

Use this unit cost for very small projects, or in locations that are not accessible with a ready-mix concrete delivery truck.

This unit cost covers concrete and concrete placement only. Use it along with the per-foot forming price, which covers formwork and reinforcing.

Unit Size

One lineal foot of footing.

Labor Costs

We figure one skilled hour per 16 feet of footer, plus one unskilled hour per 12 feet of footer. If you use a one-person semi-skilled crew, that translates to about 7 feet of footing installed per hour.

Material Costs

The cost includes concrete bag mix sufficient to fill a 6" x 16" footing (2/3 cubic feet per foot of footing).

NOTE-- For a larger hand-mixed pour, you might want to mix the concrete "from scratch" using bulk gravel, concrete sand and portland cement. You might get a slightly cheaper net price, though the increased labor cost and more difficult material handling may offset any savings in raw materials.

Hard Construction Costs, Typical

$7.41 per lineal foot of concrete footing

Suggested Quantity

Goldenseal calculates the foundation length, and uses it for this unit cost.
