3.7 adds a new print form that you can use
for getting price quotes from your suppliers.

How to Use
Before using the new price request form, set up a Material
Purchase template that includes all of the items that
you purchase frequently from a vendor, for which you
want to get frequent price updates or price quotes.
To do that, follow these steps:
- Choose Material Purchases from the Costs menu.
- Click the New button.
- Click on the Breakdown popup field on the left side of
the window, and choose Items.
- Click in the breakdown table, and enter
a Cost Item for which you want to get pricing.
- Hit the Enter key (Windows) or Return key (Mac) to add
a new row.
- Repeat steps 4 and 5 until you have all of the items for
which you want price quotes.
- Click on the Status popup field on the left side of the
window, and choose Pricing Only.
- Choose Save Record from the Edit menu to save changes.
- Choose Template this Item from the Options menu.
- Enter a name for the template, then click OK.
When you are ready to get a price quote from that vendor,
follow these steps:
- Choose Material Purchases from the Costs menu.
- Click on the template button (the triangle next to the
New button), and choose the template you created
in the previous steps.
- Choose Print Forms from the File menu.
- Enter Price
Quote Request into the Form Type popup
field, and click the Print button.
- Give the printed form to your vendor, and ask them to fill
it out.
- Call them a few days later, and remind them to fill
it out.
- Call them a few days later, and beg them to fill it out.
- Call them a few days later, and bribe them with a six-pack
of beer so they will fill it out.
- When you have the new prices, type them into the Material
Purchase that you created in step 2.
- Goldenseal will automatically update the cost of all listed
items. It will also update the price of any Assemblies
that include those items.
Technical Details
The Goldenseal estimating software program also includes
a report that you can use for price requests, after
using the Find command to locate a group of Cost
Items. However this new method is probably easier,
since the printed form matches the Material Purchase
where you will type in the new pricing.
