How to Use

Version 3.7 adds four contract "match text" options:

  • SecondPartyName-- for the name of a subcontractor (or other party involved in a contract).
  • SecondPartyAddress-- for the address of a subcontractor (or other party involved in a contract).
  • GrossCost-- for the cost of the project before sales tax
  • SalesTaxAmount-- for the amount of sales tax being charged on the project

To add the new items, type them into a Contract Clause.

For example, if you want your contracts to mention the sales tax amount, follow these steps:

  1. Choose Contract Setup from the Options menu, and choose Contract Clauses from the submenu.
  2. Click on the Project Cost clause, and click Duplicate.
  3. Enter Project Cost with Tax into the Name field.
  4. Change the text to the following-- The total contract price will be GROSSCOST, plus sales tax in the amount of SALESTAXAMOUNT, for a total price of PROJECTCOST.
  5. Click OK.
  6. Click Close.
  7. Choose Contract Setup from the Options menu, and choose Contract Packages from the submenu.
  8. Open any packages for contracts where you want to show the sales tax amount.
  9. Turn off the checkbox next to Project Cost, and add a checkmark next to Project Cost with Tax.
  10. Click OK.
  11. Click Close.
  12. When you write a contract that includes this clause, Goldenseal will replace the "match text" with the gross price, sales tax amount, and net price respectively.

If you write contracts for subcontractors, follow these steps:

  1. Choose Contract Setup from the Options menu, and choose Contract Clauses from the submenu.
  2. Click on the Addresses & Names clause, and click Duplicate.
  3. Enter Sub Address & Names into the Name field.
  4. In the Clause Text field, change CLIENTNAME to SECONDPARTYNAME, and change CLIENTADDRESS to SECONDPARTYADDRESS.
  5. Click OK.
  6. Click Close.
  7. Choose Contract Setup from the Options menu, and choose Contract Packages from the submenu.
  8. Open any packages that you use for subcontractors.
  9. Turn off the checkbox next to Addresses & Names, and add a checkmark next to Sub Address & Names.
  10. Click OK.
  11. Click Close.
  12. When you write a contract that includes this clause, Goldenseal will replace the "match text" with the subcontractor's full name and address respectively.
