How to Use

The Non-Business checkbox is an optional field that you can add to expenses, checking transactions and other business transactions. To include it, follow these steps:

  1. Choose Custom Layouts from the Options menu, and choose Transactions from the submenu.
  2. Choose the type of transaction with the Transaction popup field at upper left.
  3. Click on the Field tool (fourth row left in the tool palette on the left side of the window).
  4. Click in the layout, and drag a rectangle where you'd like the checkbox to be.
  5. Choose Non Business Item from the list of available data fields.
  6. Click OK.
  7. Click on the new Non Business checkbox, and choose Copy from the Edit menu.
  8. Switch to a different layout where you'd like to use the Non Business checkbox.
  9. Choose Paste from the Edit menu.
  10. Repeat steps 7 to 9 for each layout where you'd like to use the Non Business option.

The Non Business checkbox will appear the next time you open each transaction layout. Click on it to mark items that are not business expenses. You can then use the Find command to locate non-business items.

Technical Details

Future versions of Goldenseal small business accounting software will make more use of the Non Business checkbox. For example we'll skip those items in financial reports for your business.
