QB Switch-- Data Entry |
Entering data into Goldenseal accounting software records is similar to Quickbooks, but there are a few differences. Entering Records Quickbooks windows open to an empty record. They also have an OK and Cancel button. Goldenseal windows don't open to an empty record. To add a new record, click the New button (you can also hit command/control-N, or choose New Record from the Edit menu). HINT-- If you prefer the Quickbooks style where windows open to a new empty record, choose Preferences from the Options menu, choose Interface from the submenu, and turn on the Open to Empty Record checkbox. Saving Records In Quickbooks, you save a record by clicking the OK button. You click Cancel to delete it. Goldenseal small business software will automatically save changes when you press the Enter key, hit command/control-S, close the window, or move to a different record. To delete a record, choose Delete Record from the Edit menu. Clairvoyant Fields When you start typing in a Quickbooks field that shows accounts or lists, Quickbooks fills in the name that matches what you have already typed. Goldenseal has similar "clairvoyant" fields, but they show a list of items after you start typing. Sometimes that is an easier way to find the item you want to enter (you can scroll through the list, click on the item, or use the up or down arrow to select an item). Other Data Entry Goldenseal accounting software is more forgiving about numbers and dates-- it will correct whatever you typed into a valid value without nagging you. Customizing Data Entry Forms To change the appearance of any data entry window, follow these steps:
