Project Billing |
Where does Goldenseal show how much the customer owes for a project? When you use Goldenseal project billing software to create bills for your project, use the Billing command to see a "snapshot" of how much the customer owes for each project. There are three types of project billing, and what you see varies for each type. Draw Schedules For a Draw Schedule project, you'll make a decision on the amount of completion for each phase in the project. Goldenseal uses that estimate to calculate the amount currently owed for the project. Goldenseal takes the total project completion, subtracts bills to date (plus any deposits or overpayments) and tells you what the customer still owes on the project. Then you decide how much is ready to bill now, based on current completion. Follow the link for more about draw schedule billing in the Reference manual. Progress Payments For a progress payment project, you'll make a decision on the amount of completion for each category, location or work item in the project. Goldenseal uses that estimate to calculate the amount currently owed for the project. Follow the link for more about progress payment billing in the Reference manual. Time and Materials Goldenseal shows you the current amount that is ready for time and materials billing. It gives you a list of all unbilled equipment hours, labor hours, material purchases, inventory used, subcontractor costs and other costs for this project. It also adds a markup or "management fee", based on the Project Payment Terms that you used for the project. Follow the link for more about time and materials billing in the Reference manual. Billing for Projects When you are ready to bill for a project, use the Billing command and click the Create Bills button. That creates a Billing Record for the project. At that point Goldenseal adds the project billing amount to your accounts receivable balance for that project. Before you create the bill, any current work will not show as a receivables amount (since Goldenseal doesn't know how much work has been done). When it's all paid, the project no longer shows in Billing. Click here to return to Project Management topics.
