Overtime
is not correct!
Here's a guide to troubleshooting the overtime calculations
in Goldenseal payroll
software:
Labor Hours
If Goldenseal is not figuring overtime costs into the
cost of a Labor
Hours record, do the following:
- Check the Details popup field for the overtime
handling (see more details below).
- Click on the triangle popup button on the right side of
the Wage Schedule clairvoyant field, and choose
View this Wage Schedule.
- What do you have for the Daily overtime rate? If Straight
Time, there won't be any overtime.
- Double-check the Cutoff amounts
for Daily work. In the US, it should probably be 8.
- Click Cancel to close the Wage Schedule window.
- Check the number of hours and number
of days.
NOTE-- If an employee works more than the weekly cutoff, Goldenseal
will add that amount during the Write Payroll command. It
won't show up in Labor Hours record.
Labor Hours Details
Here is how Goldenseal calculates overtime for each
choice under the Details popup field:
- Standard-- Goldenseal
only adds overtime if the hours are more than the # of days
times the cutoff amount in the Wage Schedule.
- No Overtime-- straight time, no matter what the hours are.
- Overtime Rate-- always uses the overtime rate from the Wage
Schedule.
- Saturday Rate-- always uses the Saturday rate from the
Wage Schedule.
- Sunday Rate-- always uses the Sunday rate from the Wage
Schedule.
- Other menu choices-- no overtime
Write Payroll After using the Write
Payroll command, check the following:
- The calculated Overtime hours are listed in the OT column. You can
type in a different amount if the calculation is
not correct (Goldenseal may not get all the overtime
if the employee worked on several jobs).
- Double-click on the Wages column for an employee, to check
the specific overtime calculation. You can adjust
the specific overtime hours for multiple wage rates,
if necessary.
