Templates from the New Button

Can I change what happens when I click the New button?

Starting with version 2.9, Goldenseal construction estimating software and accounting software let you control what happens when you click the New button in account or transaction windows.

To change the settings, follow these steps:

1. Choose Preferences from the Options menu, and choose Interface from the submenu.
2. Turn on the New Button Shows Templates button to see a list of templates when you click the new button. Turn it off to create a blank new record.
3. Click the OK button to save the change.

If you turn on the New Button Shows Templates option, Goldenseal shows you a list of templates when you click on the New button. If you want to create a new empty record, choose New (Empty) Record from the popup menu.

HINT-- Templates are an easy way to save data entry time, especially for Estimates and other complex transactions. We added the option to show them from the New button because some beginners were not discovering this extremely useful feature.

If you turn that option off or if there are no templates available, Goldenseal creates a new empty record when you click the New button.

NOTE-- You can also enter templates by clicking on the Template button (the small triangle to the right of the New button).
