Virus Warning

Problem

Excel gives an annoying warning about viruses when they open any MacNail Manager, or won't open the file at all.

This is a general Excel problem/feature, but of course users think it's something wrong with MacNail construction management software.

Diagnosis

They have too high a macro security setting.
Choose Macros from the Tools menu, and choose Security from the submenu.
HIGH prevents managers from opening.
MEDIUM gives an annoying warning
LOW makes it easy to open managers (but gives no protection against viruses in other macros)

Solution

They need to set it to MEDIUM or LOW

Comments

It appears that XL 2002 defaults to HIGH rather than MEDIUM security. Response to news reports about macro viruses, I guess.
