Printing Partial Pages

Problem

"only prints partial columns!" in MacNail construction management software.
OR
" only prints first few cells, then stops, "only first page", prints some columns but not others.

Diagnosis

Usually this is a Page Break problem. If you select an area and choose Set Page Break, XL will put page breaks around the area, also if you do Set Print Area. Page Breaks are identified by dashed lines across/down the worksheet (may be hard to see through cell formatting).

Solution

Couple of possibilities:
• locate offending page break by looking for dashed lines. E.g. if the problem is that only the first four columns print in the first page, the p-break is prob. between col D & E. Select from col E through the end of the worksheet, choose Options\"Remove Page Break". This should reset the break. If the command says "Set Page Break", you are not selecting properly.
• show row and column headings, click on the upper left corner (left of col A, above row 1) to select the whole worksheet, choose 'remove page breaks' from Options menu. This removes all page breaks.

Use Print Preview to check progress, it's faster than actually printing out the page each time.

NOTE-- Newer versions of Excel use the same print area/page break system, but with slightly different locations for menu commands. It can be confusing for Excel newbies. Note that our newer Goldenseal business software program has multiple printing options that are much better for printing business forms.
