Problem
gets gibberish while using MacNail construction
management software. Page Preview looks OK but printer
does garbage or other weird things. Other
printing problems. Margins wrong, requires manual
feed.
Diagnosis
Nearly all printing problems are something
wrong with the printer, the printer driver, or
Excel. In MacNail construction software we just
use the generic Excel PRINT() command--
we can't break it in our code, so
we can't fix it.
For most problems they'll need to contact Microsoft or the printer manufacturer. But here
are some things you can have them try:
Solution
1. First turn the printer off and back on, then try again.
2. If that doesn't improve things, restart the computer.
3. Also check to make sure cable connections are correct.
4. Choose Page Setup from the File menu and check out options there
5. If chronic problem, see if there's a newer version of printer driver (Mac- the LaserWriter
icon you put in Extensions/ system folder. Win- a file that is often in the Windows directory but may
be somewhere else). The printer manufacturer can probably help on this.
Comments
If none of that works:
For Macintosh-- have them replace the printer
driver (the icon called 'LaserWriter'
etcetera in the system folder). If That doesn't
work, should probably contact printer
manufacturer.
For Windows--call Microsoft Tech Support or printer manufacturer
