Problem
Job Costs are not posting. A troubleshooting guide
for job costing posting problems in Goldenseal construction
accounting software. The Job
Costs command
does not show amounts, or has wrong amounts.
Diagnosis
Check the original Material
Purchase or other cost
transactions, and use this troubleshooting checklist.
- What's the status?
If void, planned or pricing only, it won't post.
- For materials or other costs, check the Amount field. If zero, it posts 0.
- For equip, labor or subs, check the Job Cost
Amount field. If zero, no posting.
- What GS version do they have? There was a posting bug
in 1.0, fixed by version 1.02 of Goldenseal job costing software.
Solution
Try the following fixes:
- Change status, or accept that it won't post.
- Enter an amount.
- Enter a Job Cost Rate. They should probably
set up billing rates, and then assign
them to the Equipment, Employee or Subcontractor account. Then GS
will automatically fill in a job cost rate and amount.
