Job Costing Change Orders |
Problem Job Costs are too high, by a Change
Order amount. This problem only occurs in very early versions of Goldenseal job cost accounting software. It was fixed in version 1.2 or so, in 2001 approximately. Diagnosis Cost transactions (Material Purchases, Subcontractor Costs, etal.) that are linked to a Change Order are being job costed separately from the Change Order and therefore doubling the amount job costed. In addition, T&M project billing is being messed up by this. The Change Order itself is billing properly, but the linked items are also billing as part of the T&M billing. Solution 1) In Options>Preferences>Data Entry under Required Data Entry, disable "Require
Job Accounts?" (no x in the box). NOTE-- Since the Draw Schedule and Progress-based billing types have pre-set billing independent of actual costs in Goldenseal accounting software, their billing is not affected, but their job costing is. Comments This problem is fixed in all newer versions of Goldenseal job costing software. Entered 6/6/01 by Gor. Updated 11/6/2010. |
