Category System Drags

Problem

Moving a category in a Category System sometimes scrambles subcategories.

Diagnosis

The user has been re-arranging main categories in a Category System. Some subcategories have jumped to a different category.

This problem only occurs in versions 2.8 or earlier of Goldenseal job costing software.

Solution

This is a known bug in Goldenseal accounting software version 2.8 and earlier. We finally fixed it in Goldenseal 2.9 and later.

It turns out that dragging to the top half of the destination cell acted like a drag to the wrong place, so the code that moves the subcategories put them in the wrong place. The category table is the only place this caused any problems. Took a while to solve this one, since it only has problems some of the time.

If a user just did the drag and got incorrect results, close the window without saving changes.

If done previously, they may be able to fix it by dragging the columns back and ending up in the top half of the destination row. Or they may just need to move the subcategories by hand.

If using Goldenseal job cost accounting software versions 2.8 or earlier, if they are careful to drag only into the bottom 1/2 of the cell they'll still be OK.
