Windows Install Problems

Problem

Double-click on Goldenseal file opens wrong program, or says it can't find xxxx.exe

Diagnosis

Goldenseal Windows accounting software installers before 2/20/03 didn't set the registry correctly.

Solution

1. Click Start button-- Settings-- Control Panel-- Folder Options.
2. Click the File Types tab.
3. If you see .GLDS at the start of the list (with a period in front), click on it and delete it.
4. Scroll down until you see GLDS in the Extensions list. Click on it, then click the Change button and select the current Goldenseal business management software application (Goldenseal XXX.EXE). Some versions of Windows may say Edit instead of Change.
5. If you don't see GLDS in the list, add it and give it the current Goldenseal application (Goldenseal XXX.EXE).

NOTE-- if you have more than one copy of Goldenseal Windows accounting software on your computer, you should remove the extra ones. The installer is deletes older versions, but it won't find copies of Goldenseal that aren't in the Goldenseal folder.
