Windows Versions

Problem

Caller is not sure which version of Microsoft Windows they have.

Diagnosis

1. Click the Start button.
2. Choose Programs folder, then Accessories, then System Tools, then System Information. If no Programs folder, it's WIndows 10 or later. Scroll down to Windows Administrative Tools, then open System Information.
3. It will show the Win version.

NOTE-- If no start button, put mouse way down in bottom left corner. If the bar pops up, click the Start button as usual. If no bar, then it must be Win 3.0 or 3.1 or something equally ancient. Goldenseal won't run on those.

Solution

The startup screen also usually says which version it is, but the above is faster if computer is already on.

Comments

Goldenseal business management software runs on Windows 98 and newer-- which includes ME, NT, 2000, XP, Vista, 7, 8.x and 10.

Goldenseal does not run on Windows 3.X or Windows 95. It can run on Windows Server, but it is not designed to be "enterprise" software, and requires careful setup to run properly from Windows Server. We suggest using an ordinary PC instead.
