Macintosh Versions

Problem

User of Goldenseal business management software is not sure which version of Macintosh they have.

Diagnosis

Check the apple at the upper right corner of the screen. If it's one color, it's Mac OS X. If multi-color, it's Mac OS 9 or earlier.

For Macintosh OS 9 and earlier, follow these steps to see the system version:

  1. Switch to the Finder.
  2. Click on the Apple at the upper left corner of the screen.
  3. Choose About this Computer or About this Macintosh from the pull-down menu.
  4. You'll see a dialog box that shows the current system version.

For Macintosh OS X, follow these steps to see the system version:

  1. Click on the Apple at the upper left corner of the screen.
  2. Choose About this Mac from the pull-down menu.
  3. You'll see a dialog box that shows the current system version

Comments

Goldenseal Macintosh accounting software runs on Mac OS 7.2 or newer. Multi-user requires Mac OS 8.6 or newer. Click here for compatibility with early versions of Mac OS X.
