Changing Assembly Components

NOTE-- We retired the BidMagic Material Takeoff Software in 2001. It has been replaced by Goldenseal Material Takeoff Software.

We still include this BidMagic estimating software manual as a convenience for users of our older program. Many features are similar, in Goldenseal estimating.

Changing an Assembly component

To change the quantity or waste factor in an assembly component, click in the appropriate field and type in a new number.

To change from one material to another, click on the pop-up button next to the item you'd like to change. For example, to use 12 foot 2x4's for top and bottom plates, follow these steps:
1. Click on the pop-up button next to 2x4-16.
2. Select 2x4-12 from the pop-up menu.
3. Enter a new quantity and waste factor.

Adding New Components to an Assembly

You can also add new components to any assembly. For example, you may need to add lag bolts to your wall framing assembly. To do so, follow these steps:
1. Hold the mouse down on the name of the current material category to see a pop-up menu of all available material categories. Choose the category from which you would like to add a material (in this case, hardware).
2. Click on the pop-up button next to the first blank assembly line. You will see a list of all available materials in the current category.
3. Select an item from the pop-up menu.
4. BidMagic will enter the name of the item you selected into the material column for that component line, and will display the Amount and Waste columns so you can enter new values into them.
5. Follow steps 1 to 4 for each new component you wish to add to the assembly.
